Writer’s Block

Today I walked out the door and into heaven

I breathed the honeyed air
What life! What breath!
So full, so round
Richer than the static oxygen I sucked in yesterday.
How long have I been holding my breath?

Colors open up to me:
Greens, blues, yellows, reds
Vibrant and shining contrary to yesterday.
And notes!
I hear your music; I can play it too
It’s bubbling again; new and exciting
I have to hurry or I’ll miss you

But heaven is calling, heaven is waning, heaven is going to set.
Fast, fast, I’ll do it all!
Catch that heaven
Catch that air
Catch that light
Catch that sound
Racing now against myself with caffeined lungs up to the challenge

Soon I’ll release you honeyed life
And smile at what you brought me:
Satisfaction.
